1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature Carpet Boost, a feature that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn’t have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It’s also prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn’t have a camera that can see around corners.

It’s still a good value particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished flooring and you’re looking to save some money. It’s also very quiet and can be used when you’re at work or at school. The only thing it’s missing that you can’t find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren’t clean. It’s also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don’t stick well and aren’t able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It’s the best robot hoover (https://www.footballzaa.com/out.Php?url=https://stephansengrady.livejournal.com/profile) for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is ideal for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it’s not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors’ Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire home, and it did so with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a good job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was great and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It’s more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we’ve not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors’ boxy units, this mop and robot cleaner automatic vacuum and mop is among the most appealing looking in our tests. iRobot’s latest flagship model also is its most advanced, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company’s robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It’s also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it boasts the industry’s highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it’s an eerily noisy device, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you attempt to sleep.

It’s also quite expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it’s going to cost you more and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs’ range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock’s S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum’s dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive rivals. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not foolproof in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has an attribute called “Intelligent Dirt Detection”, that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house depending on how dirty those areas tend to be.

For larger houses it’s recommended to choose one with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your house by using the app or voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Finally a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we’ve examined. It’s also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any “no-go” areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot cleaning that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It’s good at vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we’ve tested. It also has an app that’s less intuitive, and a smaller base station that can’t double as a bin for emptying.
