Check your robot vacuum uk‘s brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models also self-empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin in the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we’ve tested. They feature motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans that avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good robot vacuum scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5’s navigation doesn’t feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to get caught up in shoes and socks and can’t navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn’t have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.
Still, it’s very good, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It’s also quiet and operates while you’re at work or in school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It’s also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don’t adhere well and aren’t able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek automatic vacuum and mop robot cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It’s the best robotic hoover for carpets, but it’s not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to remove and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm is great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it’s not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors’ Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on various flooring and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It’s a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven’t seen before on other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the boxy models from the competitors. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company’s robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It’s the only robotic mop or vacuum that has a perfect 10 in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an intuitive mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it’s still quite loud that could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.
It’s also a bit expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. If you’re willing to live some more volume and some additional cost it’s a capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock’s S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum’s dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn’t foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has “Intelligent Dirt Detection”, that regulates the amount of time the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the degree of dirt they are.
If you have a bigger home, you should consider choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. Also, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you’d think from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we’ve tested. It’s also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any “no-go” areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app also gives access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It features a powerful 8000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It’s good at vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we’ve tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can’t be used as an emptying bin.
